T O R Q U A Y | Day 1

M o n d a y  // 1 7 . 0 2 . 1 4

This road trip had been booked in so long ago, half of us had forgotten we were going, up until a few weeks before we were due to leave.

hah.

The place we stayed at was this amazing 3 storey, open plan apartment with a beachfront view.
SO BEAUUUUTIFUUUUU

The interior was just how I imagined a display home would be.
But the rent on this place was also pretty steep at $60/night. *cries. my moniessss*

No-one bought their cameras because we all assumed that other people would bring theirs.
A+ for communication. haha

It was ok tho because I still had my phone. So I thought it would be a good opportunity to try out my phone's video-ing capabilities.
I also recently bought a new macbook so I got to try out iMovie for the first time.

-

Sidenote:
Sidestory behind me getting a new laptop was that a couple of weeks ago my trusty laptop which had gotten me all the way though high school and two years of uni spontaneously caught fire and started bellowing smoke while I was using it for no apparent reason.

I still dont know understand. I wasn't even doing anything hardcore. but yeah.

It was basically time for an upgrade.

So I got a mac.

-

When we arrived in Torquay the first thing we did was go grocery shopping.
A BBQ and Mexican was on the menu for dinners so food needed to be bought.
We were lucky that shops were only a 2 minute drive away.

Then we settled into our place before heading down to the beach.

The girls were all so impressed by the large size of the baths - and there we 4 of these.

Snaps at the beach.

Anyways here is the summary Vid from Day 1.

They say pictures are worth a thousand words.
But videos are actually so much better.

CHINCHIN

F r i d a y  //  0 7 . 0 2 . 1 4

Up there in my top 'Most Expensive Eateries Ever' list.  With prices averaging $25 a dish

But I'm pleased to say that i'm no-longer jobless so its ok.
Annie's 21st was on the books and it was reason enough to splurge with all my 'hard earned' *cough cough* cash.

My sister and her Jap exchange student had a good laugh after hearing the name of the place we went to eat. haha

If you look it up in japanese you'll understand too... haha *shakes head*

The unfortunate name aside, there was so much to like about this place.
The food was so amazing.

Interesting decor, cool lightbulbs, cozy seating, super-chill-quirky-waitstaff, awesome bar with the biggest drinks menu I have ever seen.

Bel and xtine

Ammo and her trademark face.

Despite the '$$$' tag on urbanspoon, this place was super busy.

One other thing about this place was that it didn't accept bookings either. And they politely refuse seating until everyone in your group is there.
On a normal day, there would be a line out the door by about 5:30 so we made sure we were all over it like white on rice.

We had intel on this place and we could not run the risk of not getting seats. Not on this day.

So we were there at 5pm.
So keen.

I could rave about the soft shell crab and the desserts forever.
I feel like I had not experienced food until today.
I also loved how they weren't afraid to use the chilli. Got a good kick out of it.  That was next level papaya salad.

Drink: Coconut crush

Dessert: Glutinous rice in coconut milk, mango and *plot twist* fried shallots.
It was an interesting taste combo which left my mouth half confused and half amused by what it had just eaten.

Some more snaps.
Because picture are great

Happy 21st Birthday Annie!

Love Choo.
