ThePaperKites.

Last night, I went with a few friends from uni to ThePaperKite's concert @ The Forum.

states final cover

It was the band's final stop on their 'States' Tour around Australia and it was pretty sweet that they ended the tour in the city where it all begun.
Doors opened at 7 but the pre-lineup, which included the likes of Robby Miller and Georgia Fair, didn't play til around 8pm.

It was really funny because we kept bumping into people we knew from high school and other friends of freinds - making the night all the more interesting.

The Forum was a pretty small, yet intimate venue. They had naked statues of men everywhere, which was kinda weird. But aside from that , the entire time I think I was standing maybe 4 metres away from the stage. Their voices.

They revisited some of their old stuff from the Featherstone EP but they played most songs off their States album which was released only recently.
Some of my favourites were: Featherstone, Cold Kind Heart, Young and Tenenbaum
But my favourite song of the night would have to be Bloom.
It's been my ringtone for the past year and i'm still not sick of it. Never gets old.
I like this rendition better than the studio recorded version. Dat 5 part harmony. dayum.

In other news, the mighty-Hawks won the Grandfinals.

I had a pretty big weekend, baking at Bels' on Saturday night and then gym, church and an 18th on Sunday. I had actually planned on studying this weekend for my flag test on tuesday, but that plan obviously went completely down the drain.

After accidentally sleeping in too late on Saturday morning, I did like 3 hours of anatomy revision before heading to Bel's for dinner.

Bel is one of those people who is just awesome at life and it's common knowledge amongst those who know her that she's the first person you go to whenever you want any sort of baked good. Even though I haven't known her for that long, I really value the fact that she me lets go over on weekends to bum around in her kitchen while we cook and talk about nothing in particular.

We'd baked a few times before for peoples birthdays together this year and I guess it kinda unintentionally became a thing.

We usually do some kind of cupcake, macaron or cake, but that day we mixed things up a bit and did something savory for a change.

Bel suggested the Jamie Oliver's Salmon Filo Pie
It was quite a simple recipe but it was so nice. As the name suggests, it wasn't your typical shortcrust with puff pie. Personally I wouldn't have done it any differently because the crunchy, flaky texture went really well with the feta, salmon and zucchini filling.

noms.

Because it was just the two of us eating, we still had more than two thirds remaining after we were done with it. many foodcomas were had that night.

Next time, we're going to attempt a different pie, possibly even rendang or curry pie...

I guess you can imagine my amusement when I spotted this car's number plate just as we were driving home from uni today.
