Monday: Sannie's Housewarming / JubJub's Surprise Birthday
The Paperkites concert had completely screwed over our sleeping patterns over the weekend so we never went to the Gym on Sunday morning.
Instead we went to the BodyPump group exercise at MARC on Monday morning.
Boy, I have never felt pain in my thighs like that - ever
In the afternoon I headed over to Sannie's early with Judith and Wynne for her housewarming bbq /Judith's surprise birthday.
It was really nice to see some old faces - oh how I miss you all.
There was also a crapload of meat at the BBQ and Judith made her trademark Tiramasu. mmmmm.
Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures that night, but look to Eddie's Blog in future because i'm sure that he will post about it at somestage...
We also played this game on the iPhone called: 'Heads up Charades' which was an interesting take on the standard charades/taboo. Heiman and Caf were HILAROUS
Makes me so aware of how much I do not know about pop culture. hahaha
Tuesday: Kinfolk & Girls Hangout / Emme's Birthday
The girls from church hadn't hung out in a while so holidays was a good opportunity to catch up and hang. Also Emmie's birthday was coming up so we decided to kill all the birds with one stone.
Christine had been talking about going to this pretty nifty cafe called KINFOLK in the city along bourke/spencer street for ages and today we finally got to go.
You should all go check it out.
It's a pretty unique place in that it's a social enterprise where people who work there are volunteers and 100% of the profits made go towards one of 4 humanitarian development projects both within and outside Australia.
Pretty cool eh?
I have always been a supporter of organisations doing something different in promoting social change and driving humanitarian projects. Who would have thought that opening a cafe operated by volunteers in the city would be such a good idea to not only create an awareness but to also raise funds for projects. How ingenius. The think-tanks behind initiatives like these are really awe inspiring - makes me kinda wish I was more gifted creatively. Oh the things I would do if I could...

Anyways, back to the food.
They have quite an interesting menu in that they have a very limited set of dishes
e.g soup, open sandwich, platter, risotto etc.
But the interesting thing is, the ingredients used in the dishes changes everyday - So you never get bored of the food whenever you eat there!
Top to Bottom
1: Risotto (forgot what it was) with pork prosciutto
2: Lunch Platter: Bali salad, spiced pumpkin soup and ricotta, roquet and caramelised onion sandwich
3: Home beans with fetta and toasted sourdough
4. Origin Coffee - This was really nice too
Many instagram posts were made in that hour.
In terms of pricing, it was quite standard around $10 - $13 for lunch and probably around $4 for coffee. When we went to the cafe, it was already quite packed but we were lucky that we didn't have to wait for long before the super friendly and welcoming wait staff cleared a table for us.
Overall I think we were all quite impressed at how unexpectedly hearty and flavorsome the food was as well. The added fact that we were making contributions to humanitarian efforts made it all the more likable.
Would definitely go again.
Afterwards we met up with Henrietta for cakes and coffee at Brunettis @ Lygon
I know, so much money spent today, theoretically I should be broke by now. But hey, it's cake.
We shared an assortment of cakes.
Here are some pictures.
Bel and I shared and ice chocolate, it was quite pricey and by the end of it i couldn't tell whether I was still drinking chocolate or cream.
These girls are all so funny, servant-hearted and on fire for God, I feel super blessed to have them as friends. It's always good fun catching up with them whenever we have the chance :)

Afterwards, April and I headed to a meeting to brief on and to meet the rest of the students from RMIT, Melb Uni, Latrobe and Deakin who we'll be partnering with on the upcoming Schoolies Summer Project in Lorne.
Some of you may or may not be aware but last year, I had the opportunity to work with a team of 30 or so Uni students from around Victoria and NSW who headed down to Lorne to partner with the local bayside council and other organisations during the 'schoolies' period to run drop-in centre - better termed "The Droppo"; for schoolies to come and talk to people about things they were going though and/or to just chill in a drug&alcohol free zone away from the partying over the two week period.
The last time I went on the project, a random girl on the beach had jokingly asked if I was a 'toolie' and what we were doing there. I thought I would just share my response.
Yeah, so I think that pretty much (in an abridged version) sums up what we did over there.
Last year was a super eye-opening experience and i feel super privileged to be able to go again this year.
And so it begins
Cannot wait.
Choo.
"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let you light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven" - Matt 5:14-16

"I'm part of this Christian group at my Uni called StudentLife - so obviously i'm Christian. But I think it's really important to share about who Jesus is and to be challenged to exercise this faith I believe in. And so yeah. On this StudentLife project, one of the ways in which we do that is by volunteering time over our holidays to hang out with Schoolies and to be really challenged to show love to complete strangers, to be that friend and to serve and look out you guys over the two weeks that you're here."
