Despite the ridiculously cold weather, a group of us from uni made a trip up to Mt Dandenong to take on the newer trail at 1000 steps.
such a good workout for your calves.
I've been a few times before but it's always fun to go with a different crowd.
Anyways, side story:
Turns out the girl's car was the first to arrive at the track and fter a few phone calls, we later found out people were still around 30 mins away. So in our laziness, we stayed in the parking lot and just stared at the people walking past us in the parking lot.
Then out of no where we noticed a guy trying to run up the wall of the Kokoda Track Walk entrance gate. (see picture below) We were all laughing hysterically at him because at first we couldn't figure out what the heck he was doing. We then hypothesised that maybe he had intentionally left something up on the ledge and was trying to retrieve it.
But we were so wrong. For the next 3 minutes we watched in horror, screaming every 30 seconds in anticipation of what he was going to do next as he progressed higher and higher atop the entrance before going walk across the top of the structure and jumping back down onto the ground.
it was craaaaaaaaaay.
I wonder if he could actually hear the 5 of us screaming in our car....
After that the others arrived and we filled them all in on the pre-trail entertainment they'd all missed because they came late.
And so we set off.
We started off as a massive group, but eventually Zoe, Ernie and I had broken off to go ahead because the others were walking toooo slowly.
The end of the trail was quite anti-climatic. You go up the last stretch of the track on that massive incline of a slope and get to the top expecting some spectacular view. But no. You reach the top and it's just this stretching station and you be like:
Not even a 'YOU COMPLETED THE 1000 STEPS TRAIL' sign.
Ah well we took a commemorative photo anyway.
cute.

The guys in the group had spontaneously decided the night before that it would be a good idea to have a BBQ. So that's what we did.
The girls didn't even have to organise anything. It was so great. haha.
BBQ-ing sausages and burgers in a park while kicking around a footy.
Most bogan group of asians out.
Much fun.
By 1pm it got pretty cold and started raining so we decided to go for some hot choc at knox before going our separate ways home.
Choo.
