Dinner&DessertStory

It's not often I get the chance to hang out with my family for dinner on a friday night. It's also not often that we go out on a friday night. I'm not sure what the occasion was but who cares. I wasn't paying. Asian food ftw.

I forgotten the name of the place we went. But it was a restaurant close to TheBooth in Box Hill - Another place I really like to go for dumplings with friends from uni.

Anyways we ordered 4 mains:

House Special Chicken
Jiew Yim Pai Guat
Combination Seafood Hotpot
Spicy Eggplant Hotpot

The dishes were pretty standard. I think the only dish I was really impressed with was the House Special Chicken. It didn't look all that impressive when it came out. But when I took a bite expecting it to be dry and bland, I was unexpectanly surprised at how full of flavour it was. And in the end I didn't care how it looked. I also really liked the fresh ginger and spring onion sauce they served with it, but I could probably be content just having the chicken even on its own.

I'm usually used to being served soup before my mains at a honkie restaurant and then having some kind of sweet soup and fruit afterwards, but I was surprised that this place only gave us the latter and there was no soup entree served at all. But whatever, it wouldn't have changed the fact that we couldn't the dishes we ordered anyway.

When we'd finished our meal, I watched as the lady came and cleared all our dishes and took away our leftovers to place them in takeaway containers. She also took away our rice bucket, which was still half full. It got me wondering.
Why don't they ever let us takeaway the rice too? What do they do with the leftover rice in the bucket? surely they don't put it back...
Ugh. whatever.
I'd rather not know.

By the time we'd finished dinner it was about 8pm, my parents still wanted to go to Spotlight to buy curtains and we still wanted to bum around BigW while it was still open. So we all reached a consensus to meet back for dessert at 9.

I love going shopping with my sister. She's quite the fashionista i'd have to say and it's lucky we're the same size because it means we can wear each others clothes. haha She also has a bit of a knack for finding things which are on sale. I'd say i'm pretty lucky to be so close with my sibling but having said that, it's sad that we don't get to hang out as much as we used to.

Anyways, my sis and I bummed around BigW for an entire hour looking at all kinds of random things.
My sister went in search of earphones coz she lost hers (of course). We came across this pair of headphones for 4 dollars which were in the shape of a fly. Why would you want a fly in your ear? #whateven

We also went in search of bike helmets, because our current ones don't fit our massive heads anymore
But we found these amusing ones instead.

We didn't buy anything in the end because we realised that neither of us had been smart enough to bring money.

Afterwards we met up with our parents for dessert at Dessert Story and the night ended on a sweet note, as we ordered the only dessert worth eating there.
No 61. Mango Snow Ice.

Choo.
